Well Pressure Tank Banging Noise. The pump was also recycling every 30 secs so i knew something wasn't right. The holding tank is almost full.
It seems that when i water the lawn, the sprinklers behave differently (less duration of full pressure). Mechanical sounds require repair, or replacement of the part or the pump as a whole. This is a *deep* well (285 feet, if i recall) with a significant reserve (i believe the static level of the water is 40 some feet from the top).
Banging clanging pipes when well pump stops will the pressure pump damage the washing machine, water heater etc? The bang or boom occurs when water is turned on or off or when a motor starts or stops. In a one story house?
According to google the problem might be water hammer, but i'm not sure. The pump was also recycling every 30 secs so i knew something wasn't right. Moved into my house almost four years ago, up until about two months ago everything had been fine.
I believe the expansion tank is the large 30 pound version (flexcon htx 30 4.5 gallons). Unless you think i should do different, i think i will start by lowering the pressure in the expansion tank to 10 or 12 psi. I have a condensate receiver tank that services all the low pressure condensate return from the building, as well as a 1/2 steam trap drip leg from the high pressure steam pipe.
At first we were not sure The pressure, from the picture you have above, should be 40psi. If your boiler’s thermostat is faulty, it will not provide enough heat into the system for efficient operation.
A thunk or clunk sound heard around the water pressure tank or water pressure tank controls, especially if the sound occurs at the start of a well pump on cycle, Starting about one second before pump shuts off, and lasting for a few seconds after, a fairly loud gurgling/bubbling noise comes from inside tank. My wife thinks overall there's slightly less.
